Project
Water is a limited resource , it is decreasing because of global warming and excessive demand from a growing world population. This means to adopt , in the present, new lifestyles which also take into account the needs of future generations.
Our project has studied and analysed the environmental behaviours of European young people, also assessing the significance that nature and ,in particolar, water has for each individual . It is much more than a question of pure knowledge: it can be traced to an individual and social identity, which not only represents a source of health , tradition and culture but also an integral part of a country’s economy, offering new job opportunities.
The cooperation among European peers encouraged young people to reflect upon the important role played by the environment, in particolar water resources in order to develop responsible attitudes and behaviour towards “water”, freshwater and seawater . Comparing their daily habits they prioritized diversity, stimulated observation and curiosity about other realities in order to draw conclusions from proven facts on the advantages of saving water .
Partners
The "World Wide Wet" project has guaranteed a heterogeneous partnership to work together on water resources, with an emphasis on ecosystem patterns and processes. Each country has specific environmental issues and has contributed to compare the different systems with other European cities and find some helpful solutions for local authorities and municipalities.Each of us has taught something and learnt from other countries about preservation, maintenance and managing water resources.
Sicily for example has lots of protected areas, including some marine and mountain areas ,
Sweden school is based near Gothenburg which has one of the most important harbors in the north of Europe and has environmental problems such as seawater pollution that harbors naturally bring,
Spain has to face the problems of managing microclimates ,mountain and valley and so the management of water is not so easy,.
Belgium, has a lot of problems too in saving and maintaining water resources.
Turkish partner comes from the centre of Istanbul so water supply is important for them. Besides that the socio-economic level of the citizens of Bayrampaşa means they are not so well-educated about how to use natural sources, protect them for future generations and maintain them adequately.
